THE ADVENTURES OF SUPER CELLULAR

My husband bought this movie and we have watched it several times. The first few times gave me a very poor impression. It seems like they are making fun of Christians, Jesus and his Apostles. There are not just “modern” touches to it-there are things that just go too far. There are drag queens and homosexuals doing flapper dances. Many of the characters have gay qualities.Jesus’ followers are protrayed as groupies that have been brainwashed.
DO NOT show this movie to anyone that you wish to bring to Jesus..it won’t help. I have been a Christian my entire life and I was very disturbed by it.It is not obvious that the story is supposed to be from Judas’ point of view.
The voices are all dubbed (poorly) and the voice quality is terrible..these people cannot sing and their acting skills do not make up for it.I got the impression that they were purposely protraying Jesus as a wimp and a “love-in chief” type of person. He is also a person of blonde hair and blue eyes. Judas is a black person–making me think they were using race as another “controversy” point.
Many of the songs are poorly written with stumbling words and awkward transitions from one song to another. Some of the songs are great.I think it was a waste of talent that could have been used to make a GREAT true to the Bible Christian movie that may have helped lead many people to Christ.
Overall, it is a poor movie.

Definately for the hippies. Musicals were about to make a comeback, thanks to Barbra Striesand. But this film “Jesus Christ Superstar” (which Miss Striesand has nothing to do with) just may have killed all musicals forever. This film is a rock and roll musical of a modern-day Jesus. You won’t learn anything about the real Jesus here. The singing is out of tune at times. There is one nice tune, “I Don’t Know How To Love Him” sung by Yvonne Elliman, who incidentally, sang the hit song, “If I Can’t Have You!”, for the film Saturday Night Fever [Blu-ray] (1977). Good performance by Yvonne Elliman as “Mary Magdalene”.
Buy instead, Jesus of Nazareth (1977), starring Robert Powell and an all-star cast.

The movie “Jesus Christ Superstar” upset everyone when it was made. Christians, non-christians and me. If you wonder why they and I didn’t like it, first, Christians didn’t like it because it was about Jesus Christ, and it was a rock musical about him. It might have upset them because it also had Judas killing himself by hanging himself on a rope. The main reason was it was about Jesus, but I already stated that, so that’s about all they were bad about.
Second, non-Christians didn’t like it because it was about Jesus Christ, and they didn’t believe in that. So they didn’t like it. Another reason that they didn’t like it was it was a rock musical, and maybe they didn’t like rock music. That’s mainly the only reasons that non-Christians didn’t like it.
Last, I didn’t like it because it was boring. Another reason I didn’t like it was because it was a musical, and I don’t like musicals. Those are the reasons I didn’t like it.
In conclusion, no one really liked it because it was about Jesus Christ. I didn’t like it, christians didn’t like it, non-christians didn’t like it, no one liked it except my music teacher, who is such a dork that she makes us watch all these goofy musicals. But she’s a dork too, so of course she loved it.

Jesus Christ superstar is one of the most annoying movies I have ever been made to watch. The characters would not stop singing and it is most defiantly not a `G’ rated!
This movie was a bit too far fetch as in the year 0ad (or 4bce) to the time he died there wore not any airplanes or army tanks! I hate this movie and I think it insult people that are really religious!!

While the music and vocals are outstanding, and the tragedy gripping, there’s just too much riding on the words to fluff off as artistic license.
Imagine a story about a well-known historical figure that largely ignored the writings of the time and made up vast amounts of dialogue contridicting the actual historical accounts, and there you have The Da Vinci Code, I mean Jesus Christ Superstar.
What are the problems? Well, if only this superstar had done his homework and read the prophecies of Isaiah 53, Daniel 9:26, and Zechariah 12:10, or had seen the symbolism of the Passover lamb, or had heard the words of John the Baptist when he said, “Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”, then maybe he would have KNOWN why he was to die… even as Jesus told his disciples why on three occasions. In addition, Superstar finds ten lepers too many for him, while the historical Jesus healed all who came to him, specifically ten lepers on a certain day. Of course there’s many more problems, not the least of which is the all important resurrection… the stamp of God’s approval on the sacrifice and further fulfillment of prophecy (Psalm 16:10, Isaiah 53:10). This was attested to by more than 500 eyewitnesses and is the reason Christianity turned the world
upside down instead of dieing along with this Superstar. Ten of the apostles suffered martyrdom, but who would suffer for a lie this incredible?
Don’t you get me wrong, the music is great, influential, even timeless, but you may want to hear the eyewitness accounts to know why Jesus Christ is a true superstar of history, and all time.
